Centers Health Care announced today the imminent opening of Centers Urgent Care, its first walk in urgent care facility, in Middle Village, Queens.  Centers Urgent Care will operate seven days a week from 9 AM until 9 PM.

“We’ve built a state-of-the-art urgent medical care facility that would be the envy of any community”, said Dr. Josef Schenker, Medical Director at Centers Urgent Care.  “When people are faced with a medical emergency, their only real option in this neighborhood is to tobogan hinchable run to one of the local emergency rooms.    But in the emergency room, where the medical staff is typically over-worked and over-stressed, your emergency may be placed fifth in line to be seen, or tenth, or worse.  A child with a broken wrist who waits, in pain, for an hour or more to be seen by a doctor, then another 40 minutes for an X-ray, followed by another lengthy wait for treatment is simply unacceptable” said Dr. Schenker.

Many community leaders in the Ridgewood-Middle Village-Maspeth area have long complained that the neighborhood is underserved in this area and has been in need of a premium walk-in medical care option for years.  The Centers Urgent Care facility is brand new and will feature twelve treatment rooms, including two specially equipped complex procedure rooms where the medical staff will have the space and equipment needed to treat emergency cases in an almost hospital-like environment, according to Michael Vatch,  one of the founders of Centers Urgent Care.

“We were asked to design and build a complete facility, and that’s exactly what we’re doing” said Ben Diamond, Vice President of Planning, Improvements and Design at Centers Health Care, during a tour of the facility.  “If the medical staff felt it was important, we included it.  This facility opens into a large comfortable waiting area with a separate area for families with children.  It continues into twelve treatment inflatable water park rooms that are equipped to handle a wide range of cases.  We built in an X-Ray suite, a lab with the equipment needed to turn around diagnostic tests as soon as the doctor orders them, a specially equipped room for fracture reduction and casting, and two procedure suites that look like hospital emergency rooms”, continued Diamond.  “It’s a very impressive facility”.

Centers Urgent Care, located on Fresh Pond Road, between Eliot and Metropolitan Avenues, plans to open on March 1.  For more information, visit their website at www.centersurgentcare.net.
