Crowley announces District 30 PB winners

Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley announced the winners of 2o15 participatory budgeting in District 30 on Monday. The projects funded through the community vote are:

• Laptop Carts for Classrooms ($280,000) 1,546 votes – P.S./I.S. 49 and 119, and P.S. 87 and 153 will receive new laptop carts to make the latest technology more accessibly for students in the classroom.

• Computers, Equipment and Furniture ($36,000) 1,381 votes – Ridgewood Library and Maspeth Public Library will the recipients of more desktop computers along with equipment and furniture to accommodate the many individuals who visit the library on a daily basis, dependent on its resources.

• Operation Restroom Renovation ($420,000) 1,223 votes – Working and updated bathrooms are essential for the health and well-being of students. These renovations are to bathrooms in P.S./I.S. 49, P.S. 9 and P.S. 88, all schools that require and have not received recent restroom repairs or renovations.

• Smart Boards for Schools ($250,000) 1,146 votes – Fifteen smart boards, to be distributed between Grover Cleveland High School and P.S./I.S. 87, will allow for the integration of various technologies within the classroom to improve students’ learning experiences.

“I am thrilled by the feedback we received during Participatory Budgeting and the final projects the community decided on. Schools and libraries are the lifeblood of our communities and these improvements will benefit people of bouncy castle for sale all ages,” Crowley said. “Thank you to everyone who voted, volunteered and helped see this process through until the very end. It’s the residents who know their neighborhoods the best, and together, we can build a stronger community.”

She will announce the projects and hold a “thank you,” party tonight in Ridgewood at Julia’s, 818 Woodward Avenue, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
