Pol, Sacred Heart collect food donations for Valentine’s Day

State Senator Joe Addabbo and Sacred Heart Church in Glendale are teaming up to collect donation’s for the church’s food bank.

They partnered to host a holiday food drive that gathered food for dozens of families to have during Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. After the success of those programs, Addabbo and the parish are encouraging residents of his district to donate nonperishable food items to those in need.

Donations will be accepted from Jan. 25 to Feb. 12 at Addabbo’s office, 66-85 73rd Place in Middle Village and Sacred Heart Church, 83-17 78th Ave. The groups will be accepting canned goods, boxed goods, rice, soup and pasta as well as toiletries and paper products such as napkins and plates.

“The recent holiday food drive organized by Sacred Heart and my office was a huge success, but it’s important to remember that the need for food does not disappear after the holiday season,” said Addabbo. “There is always someone who can benefit from a simple act of kindness, such as donating an can of food. The items collected in this food drive will go a long way toward helping families and children who might not otherwise have dinner on the table. I urge all of us to pay it forward and help out whenever possible, and thank those who continue to support this food drive and others.”

For more information about the drive, contact Addabbo’s office at (718) 497-1630.
