Glendale florist charged with tax fraud

A Glendale floral shop owner is in serious hot water after repeatedly committing tax fraud.

Brian Marcus, who owns Glendale Florist at 78-17 Myrtle Ave., failed to remit a total of $71,107 in sales tax to the State between December 2011 and February 2015. He also failed to file his own personal income tax from 2012 to 2014.

The Howard Beach resident is president of N.F.M.C. Corp and Distinctive Wedding Designs for You, Inc.

According to the New York State Tax Department and Queens District Attorney, Marcus was charged with six counts of Criminal Tax Fraud in the Third Degree, Criminal Tax Fraud in the Second Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, and Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, all felonies. He will also face a misdemeanor charge for failing to maintain a COA.

If found guilty, Marcus is facing up to 5 to 15 years in prison.
