NYPD 104th mourns the end of watch for Officer Patrick Winberry

Patch_of_the_New_York_City_Police_DepartmentThe NYPD 104th mourned the loss of one of their own yesterday, with the announcement that Officer Patrick J. Winberry passed away suddenly.

“Patrick with an innate sense of duty to assist others, not only patrolled the city of New York during the overnight hours, he was a volunteer Fire Firefighter with the Levittown Fire Department,” Det. Thomas Bell said in a statement. “Patrick worked with the Levittown Fire Department Inflatable Water Slide since he was 16 years old, where he achieved the rank of Captain. Patrick is survived by his Parents and his Sister.”

Winberry was appointed to the department on July 11, 2012 but moved from the Impact Unit in the 75th Precinct to the 104th Precinct on May 6, 2014.

The department also took to social media to offer condolences Winberry’s family and share photos of the young officer.

The wake will be Saturday and Sunday March 19th and 20th, 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Charles J O’Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh New York. The funeral is Monday, 10 a.m., at St. Bernard’s Church, 3100 Hempstead Turnpike Levittown, New York.
